Personal Trainer Service at Argentario Spa in Tuscany

5 stars for Personal Trainer Service at Argentario Spa, Tuscany

A review of luxuriating and taking care of the body at our local five star 'club' hotel in Argentario, Tuscany.

Nestling in the hills overlooking the lagoon of Orbetello and the Mediterranean sea, in Southern Tuscany, in the rustic vegetation of the wildly undeveloped lands which surround it is the five star 'Argentario Golf Resort and SPA' hotel of which I'm a member. I don't play golf sadly, but I may take advantage of their heavenly spa and all that it offers; it's comforts, its equipment, pools, beauty treatments and of the helpful sympathetic personal trainer service. I'm fortunate to live not a half an hour away!

The superbly designed hotel, the arrival at its front doors after winding up a rutted country lane lined spasmodically with cork trees, the ease of parking upon arrival (wherever one prefers!), the quiet stroll to the front doors, which open onto the most pleasing contemporary Italian architecturally oomph interiors, the 'hello' from the front desk of the club which says 'Hi client, we hope you'll have a wonderful time', all of this I'd like to mention before plunging down a few floors to where the spa, the swimming pools and all the treatment centers open out.

This is my contented review of the personal trainer service at the spa of Argentario Golf Resort & Spa which is rounded off, indeed completed in advance by the above rave description of the hotel, its ambient, the five star style that is a most pleasant approach to doing some necessary, though undesired, physical exercise.

The Spa is International

The spa entrance is white, feeling like the sets of 'Clockwork Orange' until you see the designer black vases, the white vases, the glowing lights, the perfumed candles and hear the silence.

You enter the spa and are always greeted by the most personable receptionist. She wants to make sure that you have what you need, the key to a locker, a sumptuous white bathrobe, some flip flops, shampoo, anything. Nothing is ever too much and this, in Italy, is exceptional. It marks the hotel as a truly International establishment

Your trainer materializes and discreetly learns what your plans are. Are you there for a quiet swim, a day by the pool, or are you up for the plan you have made for your fitness, which she keeps close to her heart?

To get my laziness out of the way, and before the-tick-the-boxes-review takes its formal stride, one of the most enjoyable aspects of being a member of the club is that although there are a selection of daily gym classes to benefit ones heart rate and thighs, one isn't forced, not even psychologically, however obvious the need.

I arrive at the desk, my trainer sees which way the ground lays and we enjoy each others company until she dashes off to keep the poolside dry and the windows de-misted and I change into something relaxing.

However it appears, my personal trainer is subtle and I'll explain how she gets my heart pumping and some health restored.

Personal Trainer Service - Excercises and Training at the Spa

This review can only be from personal experience and so please excuse me for describing what makes exercise such a challenge and how it works out so well for me at the spa.

My knee has worn out and I have some disability due to a car crash years ago; sadly I'm not without pain. I can't do most of the exercises in the gym though there are weights and all sorts of equipment for those who can, and do, work out. There is also a yoga room.

My orthopedic specialist insists on bicycling to strengthen leg muscles and so I sit on my bike in front of the pool, listen to the music and peddle. My personal trainer helps me regain some mobility and flexibility, good circulation and a feeling of wellness by the following tactics, some super professional, some super psychological, some because she simply cares:

  • Works out the speed and the correct distance from the handle bars and comes back to stop me cycling obsessively on fifteen minutes later. Once in my stride, it is heaven! I feel mobile and well.
  • Suggests I then have a restful swim, as opposed to the long swim workouts I prefer when my knee hurts too much to flex on a bike.
  • In the pool, she shows a few simple exercises that will help aches and pains, tosses a rubber ring and lets me get on with it.Her subtle approach means that by the time I've finished I have worked out - as much as I can.
  • I try to avoid the hot and cold water walking pool, which is excellent for circulation because it hurts, but again, with some gentle persuasion (how does she do it?), I wander around the hot and the cold and feel virtuous enough at the end to deserve a half an hour in the sauna, steam room and showers area. Bliss!

The personal trainers service at the Argentario Golf Club and Spa, at the Spa, take the physical condition of each individual into consideration and work with it. They offer gymnastics and swimming courses through the year to club members and private courses to hotel guests and visitors at all levels of fitness.

Their approach combines professional know how with a pampering hand, which makes for very happy spa-ing. Who wants to go to a spa and be forced to do anything?

Prices and Review of the Club Resort

Address and telephone number of the hotel and spa:

Via Acquedotto Leopoldino, Port Ercole (Gr) Italy 58018.

Phone: 0039 0564 810292

Price per club member. My annual fee is approximately $1000, which is reasonable since the outdoor pool in the summer is lovely and a great alternative to the beach. This includes my personal trainer fees and workouts!

Price for guests per day. About $50 per person to a guest of the club member - to use the spa and facilities (possibly more for the gym).

The facilities are:

  • Large Indoor pool with jacuzzis
  • Well equipped gym and instructor
  • Yoga room
  • Sun room, sauna and steam room complex
  • Salt pool
  • Hot and cold water walking pool
  • Outside there is a swimming pool for adults with gardens and sun loungers
  • One small pool for children
  • There are masseurs and beauty treatment rooms with beauticians, by appointment

Favorable:

The prices are reasonable in proportion to the luxury and attention to guests at the spa resort.

Personal trainer service at the spa is excellent, personable, tailor made and the trainers, being super qualified, know what they are doing.

The facilities are immaculately maintained and are super clean and operative.

The feeling of health and wellness as a result of spending anything from an hour to a day at the spa is wonderful and totally beneficial.

Downside:

The downside points are hardly worth mentioning in the light of so much great feeling here but here is what I pick on:

The jacuzzis are not separate and hot. They are in the swimming pool, which is tepid warm at the best of times.

Sometimes the receptionist forgets to turn the sauna on, so there can be a little disappointment there. (Best plan would be to remind her when you arrive).
